Joe White - Director

Joe White is an executive director of Catalyx. Joe is a social entrepreneur, who has founded 7 non profit organisations and 2 social enterprises, all of which exist today in some form.  These organisations include World Changers Academy (leadership, life skills training, job placement), Catalyx Consulting (development consulting), VukAfrica Tours (cultural tourism), Network Empowering Unemployed (NEU - a South African national network of organisations empowering the unemployed), Foundation for World Change (a US based funder) and others. One of Catalyx's projects is managing the JumpStart programme for Mr Price's RedCap Foundation, a national programme which involves training unemployed youth in soft skills and linking them to work experience and employment in the private sector.  Joe, an American by birth, came to South Africa in 1996 and has made his home here ever since. Joe has a BA degree in Development Studies from the University of South Africa. His core skills are strategic leadership and planning, project management, networking and creative ideas generation. Joe is married to Smangele and has two children. 

Khawula-White Family Trust
51% shareholder

This family trust set up by Joe has his wife and two children as beneficiaries. As his wife is Zulu, all three (wife and 2 kids) qualify for BEE purposes, so the trust is in effect 100% black owned and 67% black women owned.
